Letters of Note

30 Mar

I’ve been following a blog recommended to me by my friend Praveen, a site called Letters of Note. This blog compiles correspondence written by and to people of repute – authors, scientists, actors, etc.. It’s interesting to read these letters and learn a little more about the real people behind the works we most celebrate.

I particularly liked a letter written by Kurt Vonnegut that was recently posted. Good writers are good communicators, their eloquence born not through mere practice or memorization, but through a desire to be clearly understood; a writer must understand how his words affect his audience in order to guide their thoughts in the direction he intends.
