The Virgin Suicides (1999)
There’s a lot to be said about this film, but I don’t think I have the words to express all of it. Suffice it to say that beneath this movie is a highly complex dialogue about, well, a lot of things. What I found particularly interesting was the subtext about womanhood, and, much like the boys in the film, I realized that I know not a god damn thing about women. It reminded me of when my friend Anushka asked me if it was possible for a man to properly create women characters, and vice versa. Perhaps I’ll write on this. Regardless, this movie is certainly worth a watch; I myself will probably give it another.
